Switalski leaves net music start-up after only a month

Mystery surrounds Gillian Switalski's departure from her post as head of legal at internet music wholesaler Startle after just one month in the post.

In December, Switalski left wholesale broker Garban Intercapital where she was worldwide legal director, director of compliance and company secretary, to join Startle.

However, she has since left the company and it is unclear where she has gone.

Tony Prior, chief operating officer at Startle, says: “I'm not prepared to discuss that with you.”

But one source says: “It was different from what she expected.”

Startle, originally an internet start-up owned by Telstar, was the subject of a £30m management buyout in December last year.

Prior to joining Garban, where she is still employed as a consultant, Switalski was director of corporate services at National Lottery organiser Camelot, before which she was general manager of legal affairs at Sony UK.

Switalski was unavailable to comment.
