Sullivan & Cromwell takes on Paris heavyweights

Mergers and acquisitions partner Gerard Mazet and tax partner Jean-Pierre LeGall join the firm just weeks after it hired capital markets partner Richard Vilanova from the Paris office of Stibbe Simont Monahan Duhot (The Lawyer, 27 November).

Chairman of the firm Rodgin Cohen says: "The addition of these three prominent senior lawyers in France complements our transfer to Europe earlier this year of four partners from New York in mergers and acquisitions, tax and competition law areas."

Coordinator of the firm's European operations William Plapinger says: "The addition of these partners in Paris, together with our recent expansion in Europe and the election of five new London-based partners effective January 1, will significantly enhance our ability to serve ever growing client demand."

The firm will have 21 partners across its European offices in London, Paris and Frankfurt from the start of next year
