Sullivan & Cromwell has made up one City associate in an eight-strong global partnership promotion round.
Five partners have been promoted in the firm’s corporate group and three in litigation.
Three lawyers got the nod in the firm’s New York headquarters, while the other new partners outside the US were Frankfurt-based Max Birke and Tokyo-based Keiji Hatano.

The promotions take effect from 1 January 2011. The new partners are:
