A group of law students from the University of London and University of Kent have clubbed together to organise an environmental law conference.
The event, which is being sponsored by Matrix Chambers and the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies will be hosted on 2 May in London. Speakers at the conference will include Tony Juniper the executive director of Friends of the Earth and Paul Watchman a partner at US law firm LeBoeuf Lamb Greene & McRae.
University College London student Ned Westaway, who is one of the conference organisers told Lawyer2b.com: The main theme of the day is how to make large corporations more responsible towards the environment and the role of law in this arena.
The conference should be of interest to students who are studying environmental law either as an option on their undergraduate course or at postgraduate level.
The students are hoping that the conference will become an annual event. Further information on the event can be found at www.piel.org.uk.
