  • This is surely taking desperation to another level?

  • It certainly is a desperate attempt to secure a TC - I might give it a go...

  • I completely understand the need to stand out in the hope of getting a training contract; with fundamental spelling errors on his site, however, I think he needs to rethink his course of action. Maybe standing out is not his issue rather inattention to detail?

  • Great idea! graduates need a bit of 'get up and go' about them in a difficult economic climate.

  • Why is this newsworthy? He's far from the first.

That said, I think its quite a good idea. I have one, and know of several others. Many TC Hunters blog about legal issues too.

I doubt any firm will stumble across a student's musings and be so impressed as to offer a training contract, but at least if you've written a blog about a trend or legal issue you will have a more fluid answer to such a question at interviews.

  • Can someone please direct me to the website?

  • This is a typical tactic used by those trying to secure jobs in journalism, art or photography as it allows the person to show off their portfolio. It appears much less suited to a law student attempting to receive a TC, there is little applicable advertising that the student could really place on his website.

I would have thought a firm would be uninterested in the additional information, and may look upon such an attempt badly - as it clearly shows his inability to properly portray himself through his CV.

  • Having looked through his website (to which the link can only really be found through twitter - largely due to the murder of Rhys Jones 4 years ago being a popular search result) it appears to present no further information than can be found on a typical CV.

That said, his website does look better than a vast amount of law firm sites, maybe instead of a TC offer there will be a few marketing positions presented to him instead.

  • It is newsworthy because he not only has his own site, but also got somebody to write a whole article about it. LOL

  • here is a young man thinking outside the box. As much as you might mock him, he has attracted the necessary attention from interested parties. I applaud you ,,you can be rest assured that there is innovation and desire to succeed in this young man. All the best and God bless
