AMERICA'S legal heavyweights of the future are among the delegates to a major series of British Council conferences.
The European Series, which ends this week in Berlin, has given international delegates a choice of three main aspects of EU development. The conferences are headed 'European Union civil servants', 'Perspectives on Europe' and 'New members'.
The Perspectives conference aims to supply a hand-picked group of US policy-makers with a picture of the EU's work and the position of the UK and Germany in Europe.
Delegates include Jeffrey Modisett, senior counsel for Ice Miller Donadio and Ryan of Indianapolis, and Michael Powell, attorney at O'Melveny & Myers, Washington DC.
A British Council spokeswoman says the conference has involved "three concurrent conferences, converging from three separate points" and included separate trips, such as a visit by the civil servants to Belfast.
Keynote speeches at the conferences are being given by film producer Sir David Puttnam, Baroness Williams, Labour MP Peter Mandelson and the conferences' patron Sir Leon Brittan.
