  • Good day to bury bad news perhaps?

  • Pity for both firms, which are in the same position of being increasingly sub scale, over dependent on the UK - which is a rapidly shrinking part of the world economy - and lacking the resources to globalise.

  • Well done Osborne Clark, but clearly you have no idea how close you came to inflicting years of misery on yourself.

  • Expect a new wave a redundancies at FFW.

  • LG cited issues with FFW's operating model (ie partnership structure) as the reason why that merger didn't progress on their side. Perhaps FFW needs to have a think about an internal restructure if they wish to become a serious merger contender going forward?

  • 3rd time lucky for FFW? I doubt it.

  • "differences in operating model" - is that code for they couldn't agree who was to lead the combined group?

  • Maybe time for FFW to re-brand as FFS!

  • Dear Osborne Clark you have just had a lucky escape !!!
You would have experienced ' HELL' had you merged with FFW.

  • FFW has a reputation in certain quarters as having a toxic culture. Being repeatedly jilted at the altar will surely not help its rep. Also, many people must remember Mark Abel's performance on the Today Programme.

  • Should we expect an exodus from those bringing in the money there now? Being jilted twice must lead to questions.

I see from Google that a band called Saving Abel played at the Hard Rock in Mumbai in 2010. What was that all about?! His performance on Today still ranks as one of the most remarkably inappropriate efforts at self-promotion ever.

  • Lucky escape for OC. I had a similar lucky escape from FFW a few years ago. I now have better pay, better work and better hours.

  • FFW are a laughing stock. The partners at FFW got too big for their boots a number of years ago. They need to be brought down a peg or two. I am not surprised by any of this.

  • There are far too many partners at FFW that simply need to go. They are only interested in protecting their own position at the expense of everything else. That really doesn't lend itself to a profitable and growing firm - despite what Abel may tell the BBC, The Today Programme, himself, or his loyal friend Chiswick. I'd start with the Real Estate Partners!
