Peter Snowden was solicitor for the wealth and estate planning services of Union Bancaire Privée. He was previously director of Mourant & Co in Jersey and director of offshore trust services at Merrill Lynch International Bank.
“I have spent most of my life working in either the offshore sector or the City. I decided to go back into law from private banking. I have become slightly disillusioned with private banking. It's very difficult to try to sell products when markets are down. It's a very difficult world at the moment. Banks are cutting back. I like giving advice rather than selling.”
At Stevens & Bolton, Snowden will focus particularly on growing the firm's work for offshore banks and trust companies. The tax and trust team has already established practices working for high net worth individuals and shareholders of UK private companies.
