Andrew Sutch has replaced Tony Scales as senior partner of Stephenson Harwood
Scales, senior partner since April 1999, is due to retire from the firm. Sutch has headed the firm's funds and financial services group for a decade, and the corporate department for five years. He said: "My partners expect me to be visible both inside and outside of the firm, to be motivational in my leadership, to continue with my client relationships and to work hard for the firm. I'm sure that I'll not disappoint them." He plans to continue advising clients in his specialist field and provide overall leadership to the firm's client relationships. He will also act as non-executive chairman, overseeing partners' meetings and the firm's partnership council, as well as having oversight of relationships between partners. Sutch joined Stephenson Harwood in 1984 after seven years at Grindlays Bank. He specialises in UK and offshore investment funds, financial services regulation, transactional work, and emerging market funds. He has been involved in split capital investment fund reconstructions, including the first Channel Island funds to issue zero dividend preference shares.
