Wade, whose focus includes investment arbitration, international trade, energy and telecoms, formally joins the City firm on Monday (1 October).
He becomes Stephenson Harwood’s third London partner with an arbitration-heavy practice, alongside department head Louis Flannery and fellow international arbitration partner Kamal Shah.
While at Reed Smith, Wade was co-leader of international arbitration, and joined the firm in 2008 from legacy Atlanta firm Kilpatrick Stockton, which last year merged with Townsend and Crew to become Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton.
Commercial litigation head John Fordham said: “It certainly acknowledges the growing importance of international arbitration work and we’re well-placed because we’ve got a longstanding office in the UK and are fairly well established in Singapore.”
He added: “As a firm, Stephenson Harwood is undertaking more and more arbitration work across our offices and particularly in Europe and Asia. Shai’s expertise in this area and his strong international profile in the field of energy-related arbitration fit well with core areas of Stephenson Harwood’s expertise.”
