Stephenson Harwood has clinched the hire of Lawrence Graham (LG) energy and natural resources head Tom Nicholls in a boost for its City corporate practice.
Nicholls, a partner at LG since 2004, is one of the firm’s top AIM specialists, focusing on IPOs and secondary issues, as well as M&A.
He has advised companies and nominated advisers on AIM listings, an area in which LG is among the market leaders in the City alongside the likes of Memery Crystal, Norton Rose and Pinsent Masons.
The move follows a period of sustained partner recruitment by Stephenson Harwood in the past year across a range of practice areas in London. Last summer it brought Weil Gotshal & Manges London energy and renewables head Andrew McLean into its corporate team (13 July 2011).
Its equity partnership grew 19 per cent in the 2011/12 financial year amid the hiring spree (13 July 2012).
Both firms declined to comment other than to confirm Nicholls’ move. His start date is unconfirmed.
