Brussels-based EU and commercial law firm Stanbrook & Hooper has launched a new practice group combining the roles of lobbyist, legal adviser and advocate.
As revealed on www. thelawyer.com/lawyernews on 15 October, the institutional, governmental and constitutional (IGC) practice has been created to advise on, influence, scrutinise and challenge the legislative and quasi-legislative processes of the EU. The practice is seeking active involvement in the formation and amendment of EU policy and law making, both with and on behalf of clients.
In April, the Brussels corporate and competition boutique, founded in 1978, merged with Belgian M&A and corporate firm Platteeuw De Witte & Grisar, giving Stanbrooks a tax capability for the first time. At the same time, two Stanbrooks partners, Emmanuel de Cannart d'Harnale and Hubert Andre-Dumont, left to join the Brussels office of US firm McGuireWoods.
