St Philips gains QC trio to boost City ties

Birmingham-based set St Philips has swooped on five chambers to take on five new barristers, including three silks, and a professor of law.

Anesta Weekes QC and Daniel Janner QC, both of 23 Essex Street, and Tim Mousley QC of 2 King’s Bench Walk have joined St Philips as door tenants.

St Philips chief executive Jonathan Fox said the appointments were part of the set’s strategy to strengthen links with the London market.

The set, which ranked third in The Lawyer’s Bar Top 30, also raided New Square Chambers for 11-year-call barrister David Warner, and Chester-based set 1 Stanley Place for Heledd Williams, who was called to the bar in 1999.

Professor of Law at Birmingham University Jonathan Harris, an associate member of Brick Court Chambers, has also joined the 175-barrister set as a door tenant.

“Attracting such quality people to chambers is part of our overall strategy and increased association with London to help us cope with our ever-increasing workload,” said Fox.
