Squire Sanders & Dempsey has boosted its European energy practice with the hire of a partner from Troutman Sanders.
The firm has recruited Steven Sprague to take advantage of increased activity in the Russian energy sector. Sprague will be based in London but will work on international deals.
Sprague's practice focuses on oil, gas and infrastructure deals in continental Europe and Russia, which have increased in value due to rising oil prices.
Robert White, head of Squire Sanders' energy practice, said: "Strengthening our energy expertise on the ground in London, Europe's largest financial centre, will give us an added advantage in the European sphere."
Squire Sanders has been building up its presence in Central and Eastern Europe, having taken two tax lawyers from Gide Loyrette Nouel's Warsaw office this month.
