Squire Sanders Hammonds has bolstered its Birmingham corporate offering with the hire of Edward Dawes from Wragge & Co.
Dawes, an M&A and capital markets partner, had been a partner for 12 years and previously headed Wragges’ equity markets M&A team.
He left Wragges to become head of corporate at Stoke-on-Trent firm Kent Jones and Done and returned as an equity partner five years later in 1999 (8 September 1999).
A member of the London Stock Exchange’s regional advisory group, he joins partners Peter McLintock, Geoff Perry and Christian Lowis in Squire Sanders’ corporate practice.
Dawes said: “Working with the existing team, several members of which I already know well, having worked with them previously at Wragge & Co, I’m looking forward to developing the firm’s corporate profile both in the Midlands market and beyond, as well as to expanding relationships with clients that operate internationally, to give full support on their day-to-day operational requirements and for M&A.”
Squire Sanders global corporate head William Downs said: “We’re looking to grow our well-regarded corporate team in Birmingham and Edward will play a pivotal role in developing our services, particularly in the M&A and capital markets arena. We’ve asked [Dawes] to head the team and we look forward to his arrival.”
