Squire Sanders & Dempsey loses its second partner to Lega Colucci" />Milan’s Lega Colucci has made a second raid on Squire Sanders & Dempsey, leaving the US firm with a lone partner in Milan.
Corporate partner Emanuele Alemagne joined Lega Colucci on 4 October. His departure follows that of Andrea Carreri, who quit Squire Sanders earlier this year also to join Lega Colucci.
Squire Sanders Italian managing partner Gabriele Bernascone is now the sole partner in the Milan office.
The hire brings to eight the number of partners at Lega Colucci, a boutique established after the mass defection from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer of a team of lawyers led by partners Giovanni Lega and Paolo Colucci.
A spokesperson for Squire Sanders said: “We’re looking at interesting developments but nothing we can discuss right now. The Milan office continues to be an important part of the firm’s European practice.”
At the same time, fortune is shining on Dewey Ballantine, which is expanding its presence in Italy after absorbing Milan boutique Casella Minoli e Associati. Name partner Luca Minoli joined Dewey Ballantine’s Milan office on 1 October, bringing a salaried partner along. His fellow partner Paola Casella, a lecturer at Milan University, will act as an external consultant to Dewey Ballantine.
Minoli, a specialist in M&A and commercial litigation and arbitration, counts a raft of leading Italian industrial companies among his clientele.
The hire is a coup for Dewey Ballantine, which opened in Milan last year with the recruitment of former Simmons & Simmons partner Bruno Gattai.
