What impression should a law firm's reception give its clients? Competitive? Creative? Productive? Team player? Upwardly mobile? All of the above, Tulkinghorn reckons. And what better represents those qualities than a big group of sperm? And so it is that Cornelius Medvei, Eversheds art-loving head of London, Cambridge and Norwich, has installed a picture of the little swimmers in the reception of the firm's City headquarters.
Entitled 'Positive', the painting is by artist Mark Francis, a new name to Tulkinghorn, but one that Cornelius assures him (as Cornelius was himself assured by the firm's, ahem, art consultant) is up and coming.
