Speechly woos DLA partner to lead PE team

Speechly Bircham has hired DLA Piper partner Malcolm MacDougall to head its private equity practice. McDougall, who was based in DLA Piper’s London office, is the second partner to leave the firm’s corporate practice in recent weeks, with partner Kiran Sharma heading to Ropes & Gray.
McDougall worked on two of the biggest private equity deals in the UK last year, acting for the majority shareholders on the sale of Sophos to Apax Partners and advising management on the sale of Autobar Group to CVC Capital Partners.
