Speechly Bircham added five to its partnership with its fourth lateral hire of the year and four internal promotions.
The firm has brought in litigation specialist Jim Sharkey, who joins from DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary, where he was head of commercial litigation in Birmingham.
Managing partner Michael Lingens said: "We're delighted to welcome Jim to the firm and also to see so many of our assistants join the partnership this year."
The four lawyers made up this year make Speechly's latest round of promotions its biggest in four years. Last year two lawyers were added to the partnership, the same as in 2003-04, while in 2004-05 just one partner was promoted.
The promotions include the firm's first-ever pensions partner Penny Cogher. Private client, which scored both of the firm's two promotions last year, gained one new partner in William Begley. David Leedham was added to the real estate group, which last made up a partner in 2003-04. Corporate made up its first partner in three years with the promotion of Mark Bailey.
