Speechly Bircham has turned to Nabarro for the hire of competition partner Robert Bell.
The City firm launched its IP, IT and commercial practice in 2006 and has since been striving to grow it. Competition specialist Bell formerly headed Nabarro’s telecoms practice and joins Speechly after 19 years with Nabarro.
In January Speechly hired partners Nathalie Moreno from Beachcroft and Vinod Bange from Eversheds for the group (The Lawyer, 13 January).
Practice head Alexander Carter-Silk said Bell would add “much-needed” skills in advisory and contentious competition law.
Speechly has had an expansionist year. In May the firm merged with 23-partner West End outfit Campbell Hooper, pushing it into the UK top 50.
The acquired firm was restructured, with partners absorbed into Speechly’s business services (corporate), real estate and corporate, and private client groups.
