Good to see that the world-famous Scouse humour is living on in the City’s legal community. Well-known Liverpool solicitor Rex Makin had his long service – 54 years since admission and still counting – recognised by the Freedom of the City award in June. Makin said: “I’ve received a letter of congratulations from the Liverpool Law Society – but it was written in invisible ink.” Makin’s wryness is perhaps an acknowledgement that among the other recipients of the award this year was, somewhat bizarrely, that worthy institution National Museums Liverpool.
