South Square is one of the leading restructuring and insolvency sets, led by William Trower QC. South Square consists of 41 barristers, 22 of whom are silks. The chambers director is Ron Barclay-Smith while the set has four practice managers: Michael Killick, Dylan Playfoot, Jim Costa and Marco Malatesta.

Head of chambers William Trower QC specialises in corporate insolvency matters with particular expertise in banking and insurance. Michael Crystal QC, is a leading insolvency and restructuring silk with expertise in commercial litigation and international insolvency cases. Gabriel Moss QC has an enviable reputation in cases involving insolvency, restructuring and financial services. Robin Dicker QC specialises in insolvency and restructuring, while John Briggs and Lloyd Tamlyn are leading junior barristers in insolvency law.

Antony Zacaroli QC and Richard Sheldon QC are highly regarded in the set’s banking and finance practice. Joanna Perkins has utilised her background at the Bank of England to build a leading practice in financial law.

South Square welcomed three new silks in 2013: Mark Arnold QC, Jeremy Goldring QC and Lucy Frazer QC. All three have a specialist practice in insolvency and restructuring with strong backgrounds in corporate and commercial law.
