Solicitors wanted

Lord Mackay has confirmed that he wants solicitors to take part in his forthcoming pilot to test the information sessions required by the new Family Law Act. The Lord Chancellor has written to voluntary sector agencies such as Relate to invite them to tender for the pilot project which he wants to set up as early as June 1997. In his letter to the agencies Lord Mackay says that he expects them to involve solicitors in at least some of the projects. Nigel Shepherd, the chair of the Solicitors Family Law Association, said solicitors were ideally placed to give information sessions.
