Solicitors vital to the business world

Solicitors form an integral part of the business world and make a significant contribution to the commercial sector, Law Society President Charles Elly said at an Institute of Directors meeting last week. Despite the fact that legal advice could be crucial to the success of a venture, some companies still neglected to take it. The society had introduced measures to make solicitors more aware of client needs, including the teaching of communication skills at student level and the adoption of practice management standards.

He also referred to the 'Lawyers in Business scheme'.
