A trainee solicitor has been elected mayor of her home town in Cheshire.
Sara Wakefield, currently training at Rowlinsons, was made mayor of Frodsham in Cheshire, after moving to the town 12 years previously.
She admits to “falling in love” with the town where she now works. Having been at Rowlinsons for four years, she is now due to qualify in 2014.
Wakefield studied law at Manchester Metropolitan University in the evenings while working full-time before completing her legal studies at BPP Law School.
She was a Frodsham councillor from 2003-05 and again in 2011.
She said: “Being elected mayor is an absolute honour. My fiancé Greig and I moved here 12 years ago and fell in love with it as a place to live, work and shop. I have always been interested in the decisions that affect people’s everyday lives, such as planning and road safety.
“As vice chair of the planning committee on Frodsham Town Council I have been able to play a part in the important issues affecting the Frodsham community. That will continue in my role as mayor on a wider scale where I promise to represent the people of Frodsham to the best of my abilities.”
Denis Stevenson, managing director at Rowlinsons said: “We are delighted for Sara and not surprised that she has become mayor. She has drive and an abundance of commitment in everything she does. She will be an excellent mayor and serve Frodsham well. We are proud to have her in the Rowlinsons team.”
