The Lawyer Global Litigation Top 50 report is the only ranking of international law firms by litigation and arbitration revenue and is essential reading for anyone seeking to benchmark their litigation and dispute resolution practices...
This year, The Lawyer’s annual ranking of the largest UK law firms by turnover is available as an interactive, digital benchmarking tool. For the first time this will allow you to manipulate each data set against the metrics of your choice.
Osborne Clarke has revealed it will retain all of its eight trainees qualifying in September 2013.
The top 50 firm announced that it would keep on four trainees in newly-qualified (NQ) positions in Bristol, three in London and one in Reading.
Two trainees will qualify into commercial, and another two into corporate. The remaining four will go to the competition, employment, projects, and real estate departments.
Last autumn the firm retained 10 of 13 trainees, translating to a 77 per cent retention rate.
The trainees mark the first cohort of NQs that will be educated under the firm’s fledgling Q3D programme, revealed exclusively by The Lawyer last month. The top-up training regime will ensure lawyers pass strict exams in specialist practice areas after they have joined the firm.
OC training principal Nick Johnson said: “Qualification is a massive milestone in a lawyer’s career, and I would like to congratulate each of these impressive NQs on achieving positions within the firm. At Osborne Clarke we see education and training of our people as a key and ongoing priority – both during their training contracts and also beyond, as seen in our education and development programme Q3D.”
Meanwhile, Stephenson Harwood has posted 80% retention, as eight out of its 10 qualifiers are staying on with the firm.
Seven of the eight will work in London. Three will go into the commercial litigation group, while the finance, corporate, real estate and marine and international strategy departments will take one NQ apiece.
The eighth will join the marine and international strategy team in the firm’s Singapore office.
