  • This "lad" is only speaking the truth about lawyers generally.

  • Anti-lad. Maybe should have left the lashmina at home...really hope he doesn't describe getting fired as "banter"

  • A bit of drunken tom foolery, swathed in a bit of arrogance possibly, but no more than that! More worryingly , a colleague of some description, or may be a "friend" , grassed him up to his employers, otherwise they would never have found out. We have all done things similar or worse, both on and off camera. I have seen far worse on Facebook, in respect of updates, pictures, and timelines. I have been to Office parties, where regularly behaviors, of secretary's to partners are eye watering! I feel sorry for him in the extreme, and the person who grassed him up is a complete.....!!?

  • Agree with Mark, a bit of drunken sillyness with no meaning, CC may not sack him but he can wave goodbye to that NQ position. Whoever grassed him up has quite possibly ruined someones career over something as silly as this.

  • It is a bad attempt to be funny by a drunk trainee in the early hours of the morning. These are foolish comments, but they are not offensive. I hear much, much worse at any boozy social event (and indeed in the office) on a regular basis.

Turning a private disciplinary process into a media issue is poor form. Publicly threatening disproportionate sanctions before any decision has been made reflects very badly on Clifford Chance.

If this is how the firm treats its staff, I shall be advising friends who received Training Contract offers from multiple Magic Circle firms not to choose Clifford Chance.

  • Drunken tom foolery? I think not, this is for your edification: Attorneys do not have your best interests at hand, read Corpus Juris Secundum (C.J.S.) legal encyclopedia, volume 7, section 4,and you will find that an attorney's
first duty is to the courts and the public; not the client...
