THE SOLE Practitioners Group has set up four new committees to help focus its activities.
The constitutional and administration committee will deal with issues relating to the running of the group, while the practice standards committee will give advice and assistance on issues such as franchising.
A business and legal practice committee will have a watching brief and will examine and analyse changes. These will include indemnity contributions and rules on conveyancing, which are likely to have an impact on small firms.
A policy and forward planning committee has also been set up to look at the future direction of the group.
One of its responsibilities will be to examine the possibility of running a mini-conference in 1996.
"The meeting was instrumental in helping the forward-looking policy and attitude of the group and in the consolidation of its finances," says spokesman John Lymbury.
Managing director of the Solicitors Indemnity Fund John Speedman attended the meeting to address the group on sole practitioner concerns about contributions.
