It grates Tulkinghorn to admit it, but there’s little doubt that New Zealand has the best rugby team going around at the moment – cruelly brought home through an emphatic embarrassment of England at Twickers recently.
But while the England team’s big wigs are left scratching their heads, Tulkinghorn has a cunning plan – it revolves around Taylor Wessing managing partner Mike Frawley, perhaps the City’s highest-earning Kiwi (a quick check shows Taylor Wessing’s average profit per equity partner of £393,000 would make him a comfortable millionaire back in the Land of the Long White Cloud).
Frawley made a crucial error when he revealed to one of Tulkinghorn’s scribes that every time he has been sat in the stands to watch his beloved All Blacks, they’ve lost. Where was Frawley as New Zealand romped to a 41-20 pummelling of England? Sat comfortably on his sofa in front of the television.
Expect Frawley to be top of every English, French and Aussie rugby fan’s guest list when the World Cup kicks off next year.
