This year, The Lawyer’s annual ranking of the largest UK law firms by turnover is available as an interactive, digital benchmarking tool. For the first time this will allow you to manipulate each data set against the metrics of your choice.
SNR Denton is getting tough on new recruits with a new psychometric test set to reveal potential weaknesses in candidates in its 2013 recruitment process.
Potential trainees will now have to complete an “occupational personality questionnaire”, which will generate a bespoke report that will be used as grounding for the competency-based interview.
Graduate recruitment partner Jeremy Cape (pictured above) said: “We’re not looking for a particular answer, nor a particular personality type. We are however looking for candidates who can demonstrate commitment to excellence and outstanding ability under several key competencies.”
Examples of questions include deciding whether you are an optimist, good at generating ideas and someone who is confident when meeting new people.
Cape insisted that students need to be both honest and as discerning as possible, while answering the questions from a work perspective.
He added: “These questionnaires are designed to, and are effective in, weeding out untruthful responses.”
The move follows the decisions by a number of top law firms including Addleshaw Goddard, Herbert Smith and Slaughter and May to introduce more robust testing in their selection procedure.
