Professor Scott Slorach, director of vocational programmes, is responsible for the strategic planning and management of the LPC, which has around 4,000 students at its five branches and an annual budget of approximately £25m. He is charged with developing the courses and has already secured Law Society validation for all three.
The move resulted in the breakup of the consortium of eight firms signed to the City LPC (the remaining five members signed up to an exclusive arrangement with BPP Law School), and a major shake-up in legal education.
A&O, Clifford Chance and Linklaters are now entering uncharted territory with the College of Law, which will design and run bespoke courses tailored to each firm. Based on current fee levels for the LPC, the new contract will generate an estimated total revenue of £2.57m a year.
