The promotions are finance specialists Robert Byk and Guy O'Keefe, tax lawyer Gareth Miles and corporate lawyers Tim Pharoah and Mark Zerdin, as reported on www. thelawyer.com (27 March).
Byk and O'Keefe are the first finance lawyers to be promoted to the partnership for more than four years.
Byk has worked for Cemex, Hilton Group and BAE Systems on various capital markets and structured transactions, while O'Keefe has worked a series of structured finance deals for key Slaughters clients Abbey, Law Debenture, Punch and Prudential.
Pharoah is a general M&A lawyer who has handled a number of deals in the energy sector, while Zerdin was most recently seen on the MyTravel-Thomas Cook merger.
The promotions reflect a return to Slaughters' core areas. Last year it elected a record eight: three in corporate, one in litigation, one in employment, one in pensions, one in real estate and one in tax.
Corporate made 56 per cent of the promotions in the last four years, with 13 out of 23.
