Slaughters stars in numbers of quoted clients

Slaughter and May is the firm with the greatest number of UK stockmarket clients, comfortably leading the field with 119 clients, more than a quarter of which are FT-SE 100 companies. Linklaters & Paines comes in second place with 95 clients.

The figures appear in the Hemington Scott Top Corporate Advisers Tables in the latest edition of The Hambro Company Guide.

In the table of clients making the most profit, Slaughters' UK stockmarket clients generate some u14 billion. Linklaters' clients lag behind with around u6.5 billion.

Tim Freshwater of Slaughters, one of the heads of the firm's corporate stream, says the number of clients has increased due to both completely new clients and clients developed from the increasing flotation work available.

"Obviously we're very pleased," says Freshwater.
