Slaughters, SJ Berwin advise in BA-Qantas merger

Slaughter and May and SJ Berwin have profited from their longstanding ties with British Airways (BA) and Qantas, advising the two respective airlines on their proposed merger.

Slaughters and its best friends have had close links to BA for a long time, most recently advising the firm on the BA/Iberia link-up (30 July 2008).

Likewise, SJ Berwin has had a relationship with Qantas that spans around 10 years.

SJ Berwin corporate partner Rob Day led the Qantas team, together with a team from Australian firm Allens Arthur Robinson, led by corporate partner Andrew Finch.

SJ Berwin corporate partner Elaine Gibson-Bolton is understood to be the Qantas relationship partner.

Slaughters BA team was led by corporate partner Stephen Cooke, with corporate partner David Whitman acting as the BA relationship partner. Slaughters was assisted on Australian law aspects by Mallesons Stephen Jaques, where corporate partner David Friedlander led the team.
