The firm has promoted finance specialists Robert Byk and Guy O’Keefe, tax lawyer Gareth Miles and corporate lawyers Tim Pharoah and Mark Zerdin. Byk and O’Keefe’s election means that they are the first finance lawyers to be promoted to the partnership for over four years.
Byk has worked for Cemex, Hilton Group and BAE systems on various capital markets and structured transactions, while O’Keefe has worked a series of structured finance deals for key Slaughters clients Abbey National, Law Debenture, Punch and Prudential.
New corporate partner Tim Pharoah is a general M&A lawyer who has handled a number of deals in the energy sector, whle Mark Zerdin was most recently seen on the MyTravel - Thomas Cook merger.
The promotions reflect a return to Slaughter and May’s core areas. Last year it elected a record eight: three in corporate, one in litigaiton, one in employment, one in pensions, one in real estate and one in tax.
Corporate accounts for 56 per cent of partner promotions in four years, with 13 out of 23.
