Slaughters partner named as member of influential Higgs group

Von Bismarck, who was one of the leading lights for Slaughters when the firm acted for HM Treasury in putting together the bank bailout package at the height of the global financial crisis in 2008, is the only lawyer in the high-profile list of names.

The group will look into proposals to reform the UK’s Corporate Governance Code following 2003’s Higgs Report, which focuses on boardroom behaviour within companies.

The 10-person steering group also includes Sir John Egan, the chairman of Severn Trent and former chief executive at BAA, Rio Tinto company secretary Ben Mathews, and John Coombe, chairman of corporate travel service and FTSE250 company Hogg Robinson.

Besides her ongoing work advising the Treasury, von Bismarck is also relationship partner for Standard Chartered bank and co-head of the firm’s pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and healthcare practice.
