Skadden promotes one in London and a record 29 worldwide

Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom has capitalised on its recent spate of lateral hires in London, promoting Linda Davies to the partnership.

Davies, a corporate lawyer who concentrates in cross-border M&A, restructurings and reorganizations, joined Skadden as an associate in 1999.

Her internal promotions follow a series of lateral partner hires in London, including leveraged finance partner Clive Wells from Allen & Overy, M&A partner Adrian Knight from Shearman & Sterling and James Anderson, a tax partner from Clifford Chance.

Twenty-nine other lawyers have also been made-up to the firm’s partnership worldwide, more than double the 15 promotions made globally in 2005.

This year’s class of promotions includes Lutz Zimmer in Munich – the only other promotion in Europe.

Davies recent work includes representing Nasdaq in its $4.2bn approach to the London Stock Exchange and advising Calpine Corporation in the sale of its 1,200-megawatt Saltend power plant for £490m.
