Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom has hired a third partner from Shearman & Sterling in Germany as it bulks up its German offering.
Tax partner Johannes Frey joins Skadden after six years as a partner at Shearman. He rejoins former colleagues Stephan Hutter and Katja Kaulamo, who were hired by Skadden earlier this year (6 February 2012).
Frey advises on a range of corporate tax issues, including acquisitions, spin-offs, joint ventures, restructurings, and transactions involving cross-border tax planning.
Skadden also announced the appointment of Bernd Mayer as German practice leader. Mayer succeeds Hilary Foulkes, who is relocating to London.
The firm now has nine partners in its Frankfurt and Munich offices.

It is a pity to see this once impressive ship in Germany slowly but surely sinking. It is only a matter of time that other partners will make the move.

What is it with Law firm PRs? All you ever get is derogatory comments on other firms news. Having just come into the legal industry after 20 years in PR & Strategy, we call this type of communication - defensive - which you only do when you have nothing better to say about your own firm
