Skadden appoints new top dog" />Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom announced today (Friday 16 May) that M&A partner Eric Friedman is to succeed Bob Sheehan as the firm's executive partner.
Friedman will take over from Sheehan, Skadden's executive partner since 1994, next spring.
In a statement, Sheehan said Freidman was "the perfect choice" to lead Skadden, promote its core values and maintain the firm's culture.
"He is universally recognised as a superb lawyer, and is a highly respected colleague," added Sheehan.
The 43-year-old partner joined Skadden in 1989 straight from the University of Pennsylvania, having been a summer associate the previous year. He is a longstanding member of the firm's compensation committee.
The corporate specialist's recent deals include advising Citigroup in its $11bn (£5.5bn) sale of its life insurance and annuities businesses to MetLife, and Nasdaq in its $3.7bn (£1.85bn) acquisition of the Nordic exchange operator OMX and the related sale of a 19.9 percent interest in Nasdaq to Borse Dubai.
