SJ Berwin turns to Gibson Dunn for litigation hire

SJ Berwin has bulked up its litigation practice with the hire of Gibson Dunn & Crutcher partner Rachel Couter.

Couter specialises in banking and financial markets litigation as well as major regulatory investigations. Previous clients have included UBS, Goldman Sachs, Deloitte and Sony Picture.

The latest hire brings the partnership headcount in the dispute resolution practice to 12, led by Craig Pollack. It is understood that the firm is looking to continue growing the team.

The last lateral hire by the City firm was September’s recruitment of Allen & Overy finance partner Ian Borman.

Couter’s departure leaves Gibson Dunn with a total of 19 partners in its London office.
