SJ Berwin has launched the recruitment process for its new Italian team following the opening of offices in Milan and Turin in December.
Federico Pavetto joins the firm from White & Case’s Milan office, where he was a banking finance associate.
The firm also has a new senior assistant, Andrea Luciano, who specialises in capital markets. Luciano joins the firm from Allen & Overy, where he was an associate at its Milan office.
“We now have a strong commercial and corporate finance team,” said Alberto Morano, managing partner for Italy, “and my focus will now be on looking to build our real estate practice.”
The firm’s managing partner, Ralph Cohen, described the Italian offices as “a vital part of [SJ Berwin’s] European growth strategy”. Milan is the “financial heart of Italy,” he said, while the Turin office has capitalised on Alberto Morano’s M&A connections there.
SJ Berwin has a total of 15 lawyers in Italy. It has four partners in the Turin office and one in Milan.
