SJ Berwin has secured two new partners for its corporate and commercial litigation practices in a bid to increase the firm’s exposure within the European private equity market.
Private equity transactional specialist Tim Wright joins the firm’s corporate department from Clifford Chance today (11 October), while Michael Bywell will join commercial litigation from DLA on 1 November.
Wright is expected to bolster the firm’s transactional buyout expertise. His clients include Duke Street Capital and Star Capital. It is hoped that Bywell’s appointment will increase the firm’s presence in the IT and telecoms sectors.
Private equity has been a turbulant practice area at SJ Berwin following the departure of partner Andrew Harris to DLA. Fellow partners Jonathan Pittal and Perry Yam resigned to join Olswang, but then decided to stay.
