SJ Berwin has moved to bulk up its infrastructure funds practice with the hire of Babcock & Brown general counsel Michelle Thomsen as partner.
Thomsen, who previously worked in the energy team at Australian firm Deacons (now Norton Rose Australia) before moving to the UK with Babcock, started her new role at the City firm last week.
The new appointment is designed to help SJ Berwin’s funds practice and the wider energy and infrastructure team, according to group head Elaine Gibson-Bolton.
“It’s a very important lateral hire to help round off our one-stop shop offering for infrastructure funds,” said Gibson-Bolton. “For us it’s important, as we want to be able to do more transactional work for existing clients.”
Thomsen will sit in SJ Berwin’s infrastructure funds team, which is led by Michael Halford.
