SJ Berwin and Dundas picked as fund advisers

SJ Berwin and Dundas & Wilson are set to benefit from a new £350m fund created by investment house Matrix Securities and Bank of Scotland to target higher-yielding properties

The fund is designed to capitalise on the current hunger among private buyers for top-quality property investments.
Matrix director Rob Randall said that the new fund would use SJ Berwin as its first choice for structuring, tax advice and property work, bypassing the need for a formal beauty parade.
Leading property finance partner David Ryland already has a longstanding relationship with Matrix. “We've done 70 deals together,” said Randall. “David has a very well resourced team.” Matrix also has a relationship with Eversheds, which it will use if SJ Berwin is conflicted out.
On the banking side, Randall said that the new fund would tend to use former Andersen Legal member Dundas & Wilson, which has a longstanding relationship with the Bank of Scotland.
