Wragge & Co has appointed Sir Michael Lyons as a non-executive director.
He will leave his current role as chief executive of Birmingham City Council to assume his new position in October. Lyons' arrival will take the number of non-executive directors to three, the others being the former UK head of regions for KPMG Terry Gatelet and e-commerce board adviser Tom Ilube. Lyons said: "It's a delight to be joining a distinguished team for which I have both respect and real affection." As a key player in driving Birmingham's regeneration as an international business centre, Lyons was knighted in the Millennium Honours List for services to local government. His efforts while chief executive of the UK's largest unitary authority have included the creation of the West Midlands Local Government Association and the West Midlands Regional Chamber.
