Singapore’s Temasek appoints its first general counsel

Temasek Holdings, an investment company owned by the government of Singapore, has appointed Lee Theng Kiat as president and general counsel, the first holder of the legal head role.

Prior to joiningTemasek, Lee was the chief executive officer and president of Singapore Technologies Telemedia, having served as a general counsel in his early career.

In a statement, a Temasek spokesperson said: “As general counsel of Temasek, he will be a key member of our senior leadership, both in our portfolio and investment decisions, and in developing our bench strength for the future.”

Lee will also be the company’s third president, serving alongside John Cryan, president of Europe, and Gregory Curl, president of Latin America.

Temasek manages about $150bn (£94bn) in assets.
