New York giant Simpson Thacher & Bartlett is sending three more partners out to its Silicon Valley office less than a year after opening. The office will grow to nine partners when the three move in from New York.
Corporate finance partners Bill Bretani and Edward Chung and intellectual property partner Jeffrey Ostrow bring the office's lawyer tally to nearly 40. It also recently took on two Silicon Valley partners from Shearman & Sterling, Bill Hinman and Kevin Kennedy (The Lawyer, 31 July), making it one of the fastest-growing New York firms in the area.
Clients include underwriters Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse First Boston, venture capitalist KKR and buyout firm Silverlake Partners. High-tech clients include Global Crossing, JDS Uniphase and Intel.
Corporate partner Richard Capelouto says the hires will help handle the burgeoning workload.
