Simmons & Simmons has lost one of its partners in Hong Kong to the new law firm being set up by Arthur Andersen in the region.
Julia Charlton, a corporate partner will help set up the Andersen-linked law firm which will be headed by Garrett & Co partner Justin Ede.
It has not been decided if the firm will be a branch office of Garretts or a separate firm within Andersens' international legal network.
It will have to make an announcement before July 1997 when automatic rights of admission for UK lawyers will be removed.
The news of Charlton's departure from Simmons & Simmons has been followed closely by the appointment of one of the firm's senior corporate partners in London, Audrey Campbell, as head of its corporate and finance practice in Hong Kong.
