Simmons scores former DWS partner for China property push

Simmons & Simmons has bolstered its China real estate practice after appointing Denton Wilde Sapte’s (DWS) former head of the Hong Kong office.

Raymond Kwok is due to join Simmons as the head of the firm’s China real estate practice on 1 August and will be joined by former DWS’ senior associate Phoebe Kim Yee Ip.

The new hires will significantly strengthen Simmons’ non-contentious property capability in the region. Currently, the firm has no dedicated pure real estate partners in Hong Kong.

Kwok spent 17 years at DWS, during which he held a series of senior roles.

He was the managing partner of the firm’s Hong Kong office between 1998 and 2001. Most recently he was the head of Dentons’ corporate commercial group until the firm pulled out Asia earlier this year.
