Simmons promotes 18 to partner; most since 2004Simmons & Simmons has announced a bumper promotions round the day after releasing record financial results, with 18 new partners making the grade.

This represents a significant increase on last year, when 13 associates were made up.

The firm also revealed its confidence in its City practice by creating nine new partners in London compared to just three last year.

Outside the UK, Simmons promoted three associates at its Lisbon and Paris offices, and one each in Dusseldorf, Rotterdam and Doha, Qatar.

Senior partner David Dickinson said the announcement re-enforced the firm’s commitment to an international presence, adding: “We are committed to delivering high quality legal advice to our clients globally and these appointments reflect the growing depth of our international practice group.”

The firm’s corporate and financial markets groups enjoyed the most promotions, with five and seven new partners respectively. Last year the corporate department saw just three associates promoted.

This is also a better year for female associates. Five women won a place in the partnership this year, compared to just one last year.
